Operating under the Phra Kochabaan Foundation (a registered non-profit organisation), the Elephantstay community is dedicated to providing a sustainable future for Thailand’s domestic elephants. The Foundation offers approximately 180 elephants from a variety of backgrounds a safe working environment, the opportunity to breed and finally retire to the comfortable life they deserve.
EEC Thailand staff teach elephant habitat use, from the plants they eat to the flora and fauna that rely on them. As the elephant is an ‘umbrella’ species requiring large areas of forest to exist, their survival also assists many other species within their habitat. Our activities have included elephant surveys, tree planting, assisting in education camps, conserving and protecting marine biology and cleaning our natural habitat.
